Nordic Law at Ministerial Roundtable on the Future of Crypto-Assets in Finland
October 6, 2025 | Max Atallah
On Thursday, October 2, Nordic Law had the opportunity to take part in a high-level roundtable hosted by Minister of Economic Affairs Sakari Puisto on the future of crypto-assets' and blockchain technology's applications. The event, organized by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment together with the Ministry of Finance, gathered key stakeholders to discuss how asset-referenced tokens (ARTs), e-money tokens (EMTs) and other crypto-assets can fuel growth, innovation, and competitiveness in Finland.
Key Topics on the Future of Crypto-Assets in Finland
From our perspective, three key points stood out:
- ARTs and EMTs are already strictly regulated in the EU, enabling reliable and scalable business cases in Finland and across Europe.
- The Finnish Financial Supervisory Authority (FIN-FSA) should be equipped with more resources in the crypto-asset department to match the rapidly growing market demand.
- Finland would benefit from a national crypto-asset business strategy – for example, a dedicated “Transformation Committee” – to strengthen market understanding and actively shape the business and legal environment.
